Steps to Embrace a Purposeful Life Today.

How has it been NINE YEARS already?

Have you ever had to use your phone’s calculator to work out a date because the time lapse just doesn’t compute? I’m outing myself here, but I subtracted 2015 from 2024 just to check that it has indeed been 9 years since the launch of my book,Living On Purpose: The Key To Change Your Life And Impact Others.’ What a life-changing experience it has been… and how much has changed since! I’d love to share some snippets here in case they help you reframe something in your life or give you hope and validation.

Every word in the title has been true and real for me.

Living ON purpose – intentionally – keeps me aligned and focused on the life I want to create. This isn’t possible 100% of the time because, well, ‘life happens’. But the magic is that when you have clarity around your ‘WHY’, you’re able to get back on track and adjust as required. Being intentional with HOW I show up and WHAT I do means I’ve been able to change my life and impact others – humans and animals alike. This has been the biggest testament that living ON purpose enables us to do far more than we ever thought possible.

I announced that I’d like to raise R100,000 for PETS JHB Township Rescue, where I fostered then adopted my Jessie – a previously neglected sack of bones. I’ve been able to exceed that amount – made up of monetary and physical donations for #peopleandpetsinneed, PR and awareness totaling well over R3 million! I’m so grateful to my personal tribe and @JustOneThing365’s tribe of #dogooders for supporting me in this – I could absolutely not have done it without you all!

My message here – YOU are able to do way more than you think is possible.

  1. Be clear on your intentions.
  2. Be open to possibilities.
  3. Be the invitation for others to join and support you.
  4. Do just one thing, 365 days a year, to make a difference.

One of the people I dedicated my book to was my husband at the time. Well, we know how that went, ha-ha!

To my point above about ‘life’ happening and derailing us, it’s guaranteed to happen more than once. It’s going to hurt like hell! AND you will get through it. The only way to get through hell is to keep moving – bruised, battered, more cautious but certainly wiser if you’re willing and committed to ‘doing the work’.

Here’s the great news! Even though none of us are exempt from experiencing pain, betrayal, and loss, we do have 100% choice and control in how we want to show up and create our lives moving forward. Healing is certainly not a linear journey. But as long as you’re intentionally creating your life, step by step in the direction you desire, you WILL come out stronger, with more joy and freedom than ever before.

NOTE: I don’t want you thinking that just because I have the knowledge, tools, and experience as a life-alignment coach and Access Bars Facilitator that I didn’t experience trauma through the divorce. It was brutal and there were many days when I didn’t want to get out of bed. That’s just part of the grieving journey and you’ve got to honor it if you want to truly be free. 18 months in and there are still moments that catch me off guard and I’ve got to check in with myself – remembering to be gentle and honoring of myself instead of judging my frustration. Overall, I am in a better and stronger place than I’ve been in years! But it takes constant choice, as often as is required.

This new phase of your life – your leveling up – is going to require you to have the courage to choose something different – to let go of what doesn’t serve you be it beliefs, past hurt, and the proverbial kitchen sink that comes with it all. You are not the person you were yesterday. Who do you want to be right now? How do you want to show up, not using the excuse of practicality or what happened ‘to’ you?

We deserve better than that. The beautiful gift that is your life deserves to feel free, inspired, happy, and joyful.

What is just one thing that you can do, right now, to choose more of that?

It could be choosing to stop ruminating over what is out of your control. It could be acknowledging whatever emotions you’re experiencing – not making them wrong – but recognizing they are necessary. Acknowledge them. Sit with them. And then release them with gratitude. (Not sure what I’m talking about or how to do this? I’d love to help. Book your life-alignment session here.)

There are so many inspiring stories in my book – 30+ stories I share from the conversations I had with some exceptional humans. Previously ‘ordinary’ people who have and are creating extraordinary lives and global businesses of impact!

(Including the late, great Ray Stevenson who also wrote the foreward for ‘Living On Purpose’. Ray, Hollywood A-list actor, sadly passed away in 2023. Ray you are so missed and remembered of fondly). Check out our conversation here.

Be inspired and empowered by their/our stories, learn from our perspectives, tools, and insights shared.

I’d love to know whose story stands out for you the most.
